Ever Laughed Out Loud at a Ballet? You Most Likely Have Not – Until This Friday

This Friday, an imaginative mix of three works will delight and surprise you, revealing the playful side of dance. On March 22nd beginning at 8:00 p.m., Cobb Energy Centre and the Atlanta Ballet will present Look Don’t Touch, a collection of performances by Alexander Ekman, Mark Morris and Yury Yanowsky. Compiled as an antithesis of sorts to traditional dance performances, Look Don’t Touch will fascinate you with its subversive humor and unique perspective!

Alexander Ekman’s Cacti, which pokes fun at the seemingly pretentious nature of “high art,” returns this season to take audiences on an energizing, laugh-out-loud romp. In Cacti, Ekman turns his keen eye upon the scene that birthed him: contemporary dance itself. A gleeful and knowing parody of the art form’s greater excesses, Cacti is an affectionate, pointed and often hilarious deconstruction of the affectations of dance.

From legendary American choreographer Mark Morris, Atlanta Ballet presents the premiere of Sandpaper Ballet, which The San Francisco Chronicle described as “a diversion, a giddy all-American filler that seemed as much fun to dance as it was to watch.” The program also includes a new commission from emerging choreographer and recently retired Boston Ballet dancer Yury Yanowsky, whose visionary work promises a visually arresting accompaniment to the March lineup.

Whether you’re a ballet novice or regularly follow the industry, Look Don’t Touch is one dance event you won’t want to miss! Ticket prices range between $22 and $92 depending on the chosen seat. Visit for more information.
